RsLogix 5000 Fatal Error

Hello,

I was trying to create new module in I/O Configuration and I get the “Fatal Application Error”

Below is my plc setup if I need to try to connect and do auto configure

1756-L1/A cpu ser: A F/W: 7 REV:11

This is while not connected to the plc. Any idea what I’m doing wrong. I’m used to rslogix 500. See attached the steps that I followed. Thank you for your time

Hi there,

Some RSLogix 5000 versions will not run on a Windows 64 bit operating system, In these cases, RSLogix 5000 must be installed on a Windows 32 bit operating system.

• Versions 12 and earlier will not function on Windows 7 or higher. The operating system must be any of these
  • Microsoft Windows XP Professional or with Service Pack 1 or XP Home or
  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional with Service Pack 1, 2 or 3 or
  • Microsoft Windows NT Workstation Version 4.0 with Service Pack 5 or with Service Pack 6a
  • RSLogix 5000 v12 software does not support Windows NT 3.51, Windows NT 3.50, Windows Me, Windows 98SE, Windows
    98, Windows 95, or Windows 3.x operating systems.

From your screenshot it looks like you’re using version 11.16. What operating system have you installed it on? If you are trying to run v11.16 on Windows 7 or higher that is your issue. Install a newer version of RSLogix 5000 that is compatible with your OS and flash the firmware appropriately.
