Use of Forums and Conduct

Hi everyone,

Fred here. I just wanted to send a friendly reminder regarding forum use and conduct. These forums are a great way for all of us to come together to share our experiences and knowledge and to help each other in many ways by answering questions to specific problems you may be having.

This means, try to focus your questions as much as possible on the particular issue(s) you are experiencing, providing as much insight into the problem as possible. This way you will get a clear, concise response from other Guru’s on this forum that can lend a helping hand.

Please do refrain from asking members and/or moderators to provide actual projects or content they’ve worked on as this may be crossing professional lines with respect to NDA’s etc.

All of us here are working for, or owners of our own engineering automation companies that provide fee-for-service type support. Instead, consider reaching out to one or more of our members and their respective companies and consider on-boarding them for your next automation project if they have expertise in a particular area that will prove valuable to you and your own company.

What I want to avoid is making users and/or moderators uncomfortable in a topic discussion to which they’re engaged, by asking them to provide copyrighted or otherwise materials.

Very much in agreement Guru!

I am happy to share information on projects in any way that I can, however I cannot risk either the security of or the design property of customers, current or past.

I am just glad that we arent adopting the CC CoC, the divisive, horrendous, thing that Linux is about to get set back like 5 or 6 years, because of it adoption.

Hi, and I agree. No problem and that’s a very good reminder to all of us regarding others’ intellectual or industrial property. Especially an employer. I have had several interviews over the last year or so and only one potential employer asked if I would provide a program that I had written for another job. I told them respectfully that those programs were not my property, and that if they wanted to “see what I could do” then that would be evident after they hired me. And also, they were very welcome to set up any kind of testing that they deemed appropriate.

Keep up the good work, Fred, and I’ll have to get with you after this job and continue on that Ramp/Soak instruction configuration in rs5000. Have a good week!!
